KUCHING: City police have made a major step in their fight against crime.

They arrested two men who had in their possession a homemade revolver as well as live bullets on Friday.

In an operation codenamed Ops Lejang, personnel from the Crime Investigation Unit (D4) found a motorcycle parked in front of a shop in Mile 7, Jalan Penrissen in Kota Sentosa near here.

They staked out the place until around 6.30pm when two men came for the motorcycle.

After arresting them, a check on a sling bag belonging to one of the men unearthed a revolver with no serial number, and five live bullets.

The suspects were a 32-year-old man from Suai Niah, Miri and a 37-year-old from Jalan Utama, Betong.

Three photos were also found in the sling bag.

According to sources, they were of several individuals, including a prominent businessman. The motorcycle that the suspects used had a false licence plate number.

The suspects were brought to the state police headquarters for questioning before being locked up.

Kuching police chief ACP Roslan Bek Ahmad confirmed yesterday that the police had received a report on the arrest of the suspects.
