Man charged over wife’s murder
PETALING JAYA: The husband of a murdered woman has been charged in a magistrate’s court with abetting in the crime.
M. Durai Raju, 36, who operates a daycare centre for the elderly, has been accused of abetting V. Nantakumaran, 28, in the murder of his wife – a flower garland seller – on Dec 17.
Nantakumaran is accused of the murder of S. Sumtarambhal, 33, on a road in Taman Desaria, Sungai Way here at about 10am that day.
He is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code while Durai Raju is charged under Section 109.
Both men face the death penalty.
The charges were read to them yesterday through a Tamil interpreter. No plea was recorded and no bail offered.
The DPP was Wan Mohd Bukhari Wan Mohd while Durai Raju was represented by Datuk Suraj Singh.
Nantakumaran was unrepresented.
Magistrate Surya Wati Shawal set Feb 19 for next mention.
