Happy New 4G, from Maxis

PETALING JAYA: Maxis Berhad is kicking off the New Year with the launch of its 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) telecommunications service, boasting wireless speeds of up to 75Mbps.

The telecommunication company started providing the 4G LTE network to its customers in selected parts of the Klang Valley today, allowing them to enjoy download speeds five to 10 times faster than 3G.

These areas include Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Damansara Utama, Desa Sri Hartamas, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Bandar Sunway and Cyberjaya.

Maxis CEO Sandip Das said the network would allow customers to experience a richer Internet experience with “greater download speeds, smoother HD video streams and lag-free gaming with better online satisfaction”.

Those interested can apply for the service at the Maxis Centres in KLCC and Taman Tun Dr Ismail during normal operating hours with wireless broadband packages starting from RM88.

Maxis hopes to expand its 4G LTE service to other areas soon, saying that devices such as smartphones and tablets could also benefit from the network.

LTE or Long-Term Evolution is also known as 4G LTE, a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data. It is considered the next generation network beyond 3G with higher capacity and wireless speeds.
