Name your Malay candidates, DAP told

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Malay Congress president Rahmad Isahak has challenged the DAP to announce the Malay candidates who will represent the party in the general election.

He said the challenge was not meant to benefit any particular party but aimed more at ascertaining the fate of Malay members in the party should the opposition coalition get another mandate for the state.

"We seriously urge the DAP to announce the Malay candidates for the 13th General Election. The position of Malay individuals in the Central Executive Committee (CEC) is no longer important as they're not able to regain the people's confidence.

"Therefore, we urge the DAP to allocate at least one parliamentary and three state assembly seats to the Malays," he told a press conference.

"Although, there was a statement committed to having Malay candidates for the next general election, we fear it's just for the sake of appearances. This would anger the Malay community," he added. - Bernama
