Three-year-old boy mauled by Rottweiler

JOHOR BARU: A three-year-old boy had a horrifying experience when a Rottweiler belonging to a relative mauled him, causing injuries to his neck and face.
The boy, Chok Thuan Seng, had to undergo a minor surgery to treat the injuries.
The incident occurred at a relative's house in Taman Kulai Utama in Kulaijaya on Wednesday.
Thuan Seng's cousin Chok Sin Yee, 21, said the boy had just returned home from a nursery school nearby at around 5pm when the incident took place.
She said Thuan Seng, who lived in Bukit Batu, Kulaijaya, was staying with them temporarily because their house was located nearer to the nursery.
“Thuan Seng usually plays with the dog and we have no idea why the dog attacked him.
“I think my brother forgot to put the dog on a leash and it ran out of the house at the sight of Thuan Seng and lunged at him,” she said at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) here yesterday.
Chok added that at that moment, her maid ran out to pull the dog away and Thuan Seng's teacher immediately rushed the boy to Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim in Kulaijaya before he was transferred to HSA.
“We have been keeping the dog for a year for security purposes as our house had been broken into several times. It has always been well-behaved so we were quite surprised when it attacked Thuan Seng,” she said.
Chok added that the boy was in stable condition but needed to remain in the hospital for observation.
Meanwhile, Kulaijaya OCPD Supt Zulkefly Yahya said that no police report had been lodged regarding the matter.
