Police detain three over alleged abuse of two-year-old girl


SHAH ALAM: The police have detained three people, including a teenage girl, in connection with the alleged abuse of a two-year-old girl on Wednesday, at Desa Jaya, Gombak.

They comprise the victim's 27-year-old mother, a 23-year-old man believed to be her boyfriend, and the 15-year-old girl.

A police team picked up the suspects at a house in Kampung Desa Aman, Sungai Buloh near here about 7.30 Thursday.

They also seized a Proton Saga, cane and wire-hanger tied with a rope, believed to have been used to abuse the victim.

Initial police investigations revealed the car was stolen in Genting Highlands last month.

Selangor police chief Datuk Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah told a press conference here Friday, the suspects tested positive for drugs.

He said the suspects were remanded for four days until Jan 14.

The toddler had sustained burn marks caused by a cigarette and that her feet were tied up for a week before being rescued by her godmother and warded at the Selayang Hospital. - Bernama
