Police nab two of five escaped detainees

Starpix by ASRI ABDUL GHANI KEPALA BATAS: Police on Saturday caught two of the five detainees, who were among seven who escaped while being transferred from the Penang prison to the Butterworth court on Monday.
It is learnt that Mohd Sharimy Nor, 28, and Farid Akhtar, 24, were nabbed by a police team in Bukit Indera Muda, Permatang Pauh, at about 9pm.
The hunt continues for three others, Hissham Abdul Rahman, 39, Mohd Khairulnizam Abdul Rani, 26, and Hamzani Abdul Rahman, 37.
At about 9am on Monday, nine detainees enroute to the court escaped from custody in a police van after assaulting their escorts.
However, two detainees were re-arrested near the van which was found abandoned at Kampung Padang Chempedak here.
On Thursday, two detainees were shot dead in Kampung Padang Ibu in Bukit Mertajam.
