Suspended DAP rep says he is 'independent'
GEORGE TOWN: Pulau Tikus assemblyman Koay Teng Hai has described himself as an "independent" after the DAP disciplinary committee suspended him for six months for missing a crucial meeting in the state legislative assembly last year.
Koay, who is appealing the suspension, has removed the party's logos from his service centre here in accordance with party rules.
"I respect the party's decision but will appeal against the suspension.
"I hope all my supporters remain calm," he told a press conference here Monday.
