Drug peddler tries to bribe cops for release

IPOH: A drug peddler, caught with 2.29kg of heroin, got himself into deeper trouble when he attempted to bribe policemen for his release.

Perak deputy police chief SAC Datuk A. Paramasivam said the 24-year-old tried to offer RM50,000 to the police after he was caught near an eatery along Jalan Medan Ipoh 1A here last Wednesday.

"The unemployed man, from Waller Court, also tried to negotiate with the police, offering an initial payment of RM15,000.

"He then said a further RM10,000 and his wife's jewellery worth RM5,000 would be given to the policemen after being let go," he told journalists here Monday.
