KUALA LUMPUR: The police will look into the possibility of adopting the standard operating procedure (SOP) used for Saturday's Perhimpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat rally for similar events in the future, given the peaceful outcome.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said the new method, which included not deploying the Federal Reserved Unit (FRU) and having minimal police presence, yielded positive results.
"The police's actions were conducted in the spirit of the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA) 2012.
"The police, organisers as well as the participants were cooperating with one another in the spirit of peaceful assembly," he told pressmen on the outskirts of the Transformation of Security and Fundamental Rights Legislation Conference here Tuesday.
On the three infringements by the rally organisers, Ismail said police would investigate the matter thoroughly.
