Man denies raping his friend


KUALA LUMPUR: An assistant administrator pleaded not guilty to raping his friend last year.

Mohd Sukri Anuar Ab Rahman, 26, who is attached to Bukit Aman’s special branch division, was alleged to have raped the sales girl at Wellvest International Youth Hostel in Jalan Raja at midnight on June 22.

The 25-year-old sales girl from Terengganu had lodged a complaint against him on the same day of the alleged incident.

If convicted, he can be jailed up to 20 years and whipped.

DPP Ooi Chean Ling applied to the court to set bail at RM30,000, saying that the accused is a civil servant.

Sessions Court judge Emelia Kas­wati Mohamad Khalid set bail at RM10,000 in one surety.

However, the judge warned the accused against contacting the victim and her family members.

Emelia also ordered Mohd Sukri to report to the nearest police station twice a month pending disposal of the case and forbade him from applying for an international passport. She set Feb 20 for mention.
