IPOH: A 36-year-old father who lodged a police report over the disappearance of his underage daughter ended up being arrested for raping her. Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong said on Dec 24, the sub-contractor from Menglembu had lodged a report that his 14-year-old daughter was missing.
However, on Jan 4, the victim who was accompanied by a pastor lodged a report stating that her father had been raping her for the past 10 months in a container that they have been staying in in Menglembu.
Unable to bear the torture, she ran away to her friend’s house and later lodged the report.
The man was arrested on Jan 10 and the seven-day remand ends today. ACP Sum said the initial police report lodged by the man had many inconsistencies, and checks revealed that his 30-year-old girlfriend had lodged a report against him in December for rape.
ACP Sum said the man was arrested in December but released on bail pending a full medical report.
On another matter, ACP Sum said a highly decomposed body of a woman was found in a corn farm in Taman Bertuah in Kampung Tawas, near here, yesterday.
He said the woman was believed to have been dead for about two weeks. A 59-year-old farm worker found her body at noon. Meanwhile, ACP Sum said a 52-year-old man had been arrested for murdering his former father-in-law.
He said the suspect who works in Singapore had an argument with the 69-year-old victim on Jan 8 at about 1.45pm at the suspect’s house in Taman Sepakat in Menglembu.
He said Lee Kaw Chai, a retired teacher had gone to the house to settle issues pertaining to the sale of a house and got into an argument which resulted in the suspect punching Lee.
Lee lodged a police report later.
However, the next day, he collapsed in his house and was taken to the hospital where he slipped into a coma. He died on Saturday.
