Kelantan BN go on offensive via social media

KOTA BARU: Kelantan Barisan Nasional (BN) will make full use of the social media as the new medium to explain, counter lies and answer all issues raised by the opposition.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, said he believed that the use of the social media would help the voters, especially among the young and educated generation, to have better understanding about the current political situation in the country.

Mustapa, who is Kelantan Umno chief, said he realised that BN was lagging a little behind the opposition in utilising the social media, which had probably contributed to its dismal performance in the 2008 general election.

"Our survey found that bloggers, as well as Facebook and Twitter users, comprised more of the opposition's supporters than of the government's.

"So, from now on, we will intensify efforts to make full use of the social media, including Facebook and Twitter," he told reporters after opening the election simulation course and launching the Kelantan BN Youth Cyber Machinery.
