Unisel hostels ordered to close for upgrading
KLANG: Universiti Selangor (Unisel) hostels in Bestari Jaya have been ordered to be closed by the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Auditor-General's Department pending upgrading work.
The university's vice-chancellor Prof Anuar Ahmad said students who had already registered would be placed in five places near the university.
“Students will be placed at Azalea Court, Bandar Tasik Puteri (girls hostel), Asrama Unisel Kota Puteri, bungalows and semi-detached houses in Bukit Minyak Bestari Jaya, Taman Ilmu Bestari Jaya and Mega-Crystal Resort, Kuala Selangor.
“Each student will have to pay RM200 every month, which includes transportation, utilities and other services,” he said in a statement carried in the university's website on Wednesday.
He said students could look for their own accommodation if they wished.
It is learnt that many students and parents were upset over the matter.
State exco in charge of education Dr Halimah Ali is expected to issue a statement on this matter on Thursday.
