PM attends Ummi’s wedding do
Dashing couple: Dr Zaman and Ummi arriving for their wedding reception. KUALA LUMPUR: More than 800 people attended Ummi Hafilda Ali and her husband Dr Zaman Khan's wedding reception on Friday night.
Held at the Putra World Trade Centre, the wedding was graced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
Dressed in a white wedding gown, Ummi, 45, and Dr Zaman, 33, who was in a black two-piece suit, were accompanied by a kompang troupe when they walked into Merdeka Hall.
The highlight of the reception was the blessing ceremony for the bride and bridegroom by Najib, the bride's mother Che Tom Yahya, 78, and other dignitaries.
Ummi had reportedly known Dr Zaman, a Pakistani national, for about three months, and had met him at his clinic while seeking skin treatment.
Their marriage was solemnised in Pakistan last week.
Those at the wedding reception included local celebrities like Betty Benafe, Nash, Datuk DJ Dave, Zed Zaidi and Aznah Hamid.
The couple had planned to honeymoon in Europe but Ummi said they had to put the plan on hold as she wanted to help campaign for Barisan Nasional in the coming general election.
She had told The Star earlier that she was scheduled to give a speech at a ceramah tomorrow and attend a series of events later.
“So, we decided to postpone our honeymoon until after the general election to help Barisan win big,” she said.
Conspicuously missing from Ummi's wedding reception were her two brothers PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and celebrity Azwan Ali.
