DAPís Pulau Tikus assemblyman Koay Teng Hai gets suspension cut to one month
By REGINA LEE
PETALING JAYA: The DAP leadership has given suspended Pulau Tikus assemblyman Koay Teng Hai some reprieve by shortening his suspension period.
Initially being suspended from the party for six months for missing a crucial Penang state assembly sitting, he is now only suspended one month from Sunday.
"The central executive committee agreed with the DAP Disciplinary Committee's verdict that Koay was guilty of failing to comply with the directive to attend the Penang State Assembly meeting on 1 Nov 2012 which passed the historic constitutional amendment to ban party-hopping," said the party's national organising secretary Anthony Loke.
"However, the CEC decided to reduce the suspension imposed as Koay, in his appeal letter, has now fully apologised and admitted his mistake of not fulfilling his responsibilities," Loke added in a statement.
