ROS to interview DAP members over party election fiasco

PUTRAJAYA: The Registrar of Societies (ROS) is expected to call the two DAP members who have claimed there was manipulation in the party's recent elections.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said their assistance was needed as the ROS was beginning its probe into the election scandal.

"More evidence and proof is needed, so they will be called in to furnish the ROS with it," he told reporters on Monday.

On Jan 15 two DAP life members submitted letters of complaint to the ROS claiming there was manipulation in the party's elections and asking it to investigate.

The election fiasco saw assistant national organising secretary Vincent Wu initially gain 1202 votes, outstripping DAP heavyweights such as deputy national publicity secretary Zairil Khir Johari, vice-chairman M Kulasegaran, national publicity secretary and PJ Utara MP Tony Pua, and Puchong MP Gobind Singh.

Later, DAP claimed there had been a "technical glitch" in the system, and bumped Zairil up from 39th position to 20th, allowing him to narrowly gain a seat on the central executive committee.
