Police cripple "Ayie" gang


MALACCA: Police have crippled the "Ayie" gang, believed to be responsible for robbery and housebreaking cases in Malacca and Johor with the arrest of its two remaining members and their leader.

Malacca Crime Investigation Department head, ACP Raja Shahrom Raja Abdullah, said, the three suspects, aged between 21 and 26 were detained at a luxury hotel in Banda Hilir here last Saturday.

He said police found five lap tops, believed stolen and syabu in the room they were staying.

Following their arrest, police also found two cars, a Toyota Camry and a Honda Civic , believed to have been stolen, he told a press conference here Monday.

He said all three of them tested positive for drugs and had previous records for theft, housebreaking and robbery.

Shahrom said police had detained five members aged between 21 and 31, in several locations in Malacca last Jan 16. - Bernama
