One Columbian and two Peruvians held for housebreaking in Shah Alam


SHAH ALAM: Two Peruvians believed to be members of a housebreaking syndicate involving Latin American nationals, were arrested in a raid on two apartment units in Bandar Puchong Jaya near here last Friday.

Shah Alam police chief ACP Zahedi Ayob said the two suspects aged 54 and 57, had entered the country using social visit passes last month.

A 43-year-old Columbian man, believed to be the member of the same syndicate, was also arrested.

"The first raid involving the Colombian man was done at 8.10pm on a house located at the 10th floor of the apartment building.

“While the second raid involving the Peruvian duo was done at 11pm on another house at the 12th floor of the same building.

"All of the suspects had been aggressive and put up a fight before being arrested by the police," he told reporters here Monday.

Following search on the houses, police found various housebreaking tools and stolen items, including laptop computers, wrist watches, television, branded handbags, mobile phones and DVD player worth RM100,000.

"Based on CCTV footage from a victim's house in Section 7, we believed the suspects were also involved in six housebreaking cases reported in Shah Alam since early this year," he said.

Zahedi said police were also in the midst of tracking down the vehicle used by the suspects.

He said all of them had been remanded until Saturday to facilitate investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code. - Bernama
