ROS urges DAP to submit annual statement

PUTRAJAYA: The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has asked DAP to immediately submit its annual statement to assist in the probe on allegations that there were irregularities in the Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections on Dec 12.

ROS director-general Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman said the party still had 20 days to submit the statement.

Under Section 14(1) of the Societies Act 1966, a registered organisation including political parties must hold general meetings and submit the annual statement which also contains the financial statement and the list of committee members within 60 days after the meeting.

"Today is the 40th day, the DAP headquarters has yet to submit (the annual statement).

“So, we can't say much until we get the annual statement because we only know about the elections from the press," he told a press conference, here Tuesday.

DAP held its CEC elections on Dec 12 and announced the results three days later.

However, the party later admitted that there were several errors in the vote counting during the election and had made a correction.

Abdul Rahman said so far, the department had received five complaints alleging there were irregularities, with two complaints lodged in Seremban and three more in Putrajaya. - Bernama
