Prisoner escapes from Penor jail

KUANTAN: A prisoner escaped from the Penor jail while he was on work detail outside.
Kuantan OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Jasmani Yusoff said that Mohd Norhafiza Mat Sudin, 26, had apparently slipped away when he was working at a lake near the prison here.
"At about 1.15pm Tuesday, the prison guards performed a headcount and found one prisoner missing.
“The inmate from Besut, Terengganu had been sentenced to jail for one year and 10 months for drug offences," he said here Tuesday.
"We have assembled a special team with the Prisons Department and canine units to track the suspect down.
“We believe we will arrest him soon," he said.
ACP Mohd Jasmani said Mohd Norhafiza was wearing a fluorescent green prison uniform and urged members of the public to contact the police operations room at 09-5142999 immediately if he was spotted.
