KUALA LUMPUR: The Syariah High Court here has fixed two dates in March for the trial of a former daughter-in-law of Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who filed a RM121.36mil child support claim against his son.

Syariah High Court registrar Mohd Zulkhairul Abdul Rahman fixed March 13 and 14 for the trial after meeting representatives of plaintiff Shahnaz A. Majid and her former husband Datuk Seri Mahmud Abu Bekir Taib in chambers yesterday.

Syarie counsel Dr Rafie Mohd Shafie and Akbardin Abdul Kader acted for Shahnaz, 48, while Siti Noor Kamilah Mat Jusoh acted for Mahmud Abu Bekir, 49.

Dr Rafie said Mahmud Abu Bekir has filed his defence as ordered by the court when the case was first mentioned on Jan 10.

On Nov 30 last year, Shahnaz filed a RM121.36mil child support claim against her former husband.

She said in her statement of claim that they were married on Jan 9, 1992 and divorced on May 11, 2011.

They have a son, Raden Murya, 19, who is studying in Britain.

Shahnaz said under the divorce order, the boy would be under her custody but there was no agreement on his maintenance.

She is claiming an education trust fund of RM40mil and a RM60mil terrace house in London.

The trial of Shahnaz’s RM300mil matrimonial property and RM100mil in gifts (mutaah) claims as a divorce settlement case continues on Feb 26.
