KUCHING: PBB senior vice-president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has vehemently denied that he is leading a conspiracy to oust party president and Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

In a press statement issued here yesterday, Tengah denied such a plot and reiterated his support for Taib.

“I wish to state categorically that there is no such plot. I am always with and committed to our Chief Minister through thick and thin.

“I am one of those people who want the Chief Minister to continue to lead the party, the state and the government and my colleagues in the party know this as a fact.

“I think I have proven myself to be a loyal party member to the Chief Minister who is the party president,” he said.

Online portal Sarawak Report revealed that it had received an explosive dossier from sources close to Taib detailing a powerful conspiracy to depose him at the next PBB convention due in May.

It further alleged that Tengah would maintain a pretence of unity in the general election but had collected enough supporters, including Taib’s own close family members, to oust the latter at the party’s convention.

Tengah said Sarawak Report was a foreign-based portal known to be anti-state government and that its reports had been false and baseless all this while.

“Does it make sense for the sources allegedly close to the Chief Minister to pass the so-called dossier on the plot to Sarawak Report which has been attacking him and the state government?

“Therefore, the contents of the report are malicious wild allegations with intent to split the party.

“I know this is the work of outsiders and witches who want to see PBB as the backbone of the state Barisan Nasional split and weakened especially now that the parliamentary elections are just around the corner.

“We are not going to be trapped by this irresponsible malicious game,” he said.
