PETALING JAYA: MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong is having sleepless nights thinking about the whereabouts of missing six-year-old William Yau Zhen Zhong.

“However, our resolve to find him has not faltered,” he said. “I cannot imagine what his family is going through. The least we can do is to try our best.”

Chong said the department was following all possible leads in its search for William as it could not afford not to follow up on any tips.

“We are working closely with Rela as well as the police,” he said, adding that he had received more than 30 calls as well as 20 text messages since the boy went missing on Jan 16.

“It has been more than a week but we will not relent in our pursuit of William. Finding him is our priority,” he said.

Chong said the department had distributed more than 10,000 posters of William but their effort would not stop there.

Chong added that more than one million MCA members nationwide were also searching for the missing boy.

“We need the cooperation of the public to find him. We are hoping for better luck as the days pass.”

Wanita Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said she had directed Barisan Women wings to put up William's posters at every branch.

“However, we will focus our search in the Klang Valley area. Our heart goes out to William's parents.”

William's mother Goh Ying Ying's Facebook page had a message thanking people for their well wishes.

Since her son went missing, Goh's friends have been sending messages of encouragement as well as pictures from various search efforts for him.

Yesterday, police took advantage of the Maulidur Rasul public holiday and hit the streets of Taipan, USJ 9 and USJ 10 to enlist help in finding William.

A team from the Subang Jaya police headquarters led by Subang Jaya Commercial Crime Investigations Department (CCID) chief Deputy Supt Ng Thean Leng met with members of the public and handed out hundreds of pamphlets with William's picture.

“We hope that this would lead to his whereabouts. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem may be of help in locating him,” said DSP Ng yesterday.
