Ahmad Zahid files defamation suit against Rafizi
KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi filed a defamation suit at the High Court registrar here Friday, against Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) strategy advisor Mohd Rafizi Ramli in relation to an article in his blog.
In his statement of claim, Ahmad Zahid claimed that Mohd Rafizi posted the article on RafiziRamli dotcom with the intention of making the public and Barisan Nasional lose confidence in him, especially with the upcoming general election.
He further claimed that the words in the article carried the meaning that he (Ahmad Zahid) was not competent to hold the post of Defence Minister, misused his power, was irresponsible and in breach of trust.
He contended that the article was not true and written with ill intent to portray him in a negative light to the public.
Ahmad Zahid is seeking general, special and exemplary damages, a full retraction of the alleged defamatory words and a two-day apology in four local dailies in four languages. - Bernama
