JOHOR BARU: One of the passengers who was injured in a train derailment near here is still haunted by the images from her harrowing experience.

The victim who wanted to be known only as Wong, 35, said she had been resting on one of the bunk beds when her coach toppled to the right in Saturday's incident.

“I was shocked. I tried to open one of the emergency exits nearby but it was stuck,” she said at Hospital Sultanah Aminah here.

The passenger train heading from the KL Sentral station to Singapore derailed near Taman Impian Emas between the Kulaijaya and Kempas Baru stations.

Four coaches were toppled to the right in the 3.30pm incident. Six people were injured.

Wong added that she could see bags scattered across the floor and hear people screaming.

The businesswoman cried out for help, a call which was answered by a few foreign tourists who helped her out of the bed.

“We headed to another emergency exit and this time we managed to pry it open,” said Wong, adding that she only suffered minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) senior marketing manager Mohd Noordin Kimi is targeting a resumption of train services by Wednesday.

He said the four coaches were being removed from the track.

“We are still investigating the cause of the accident.”

KTMB has provided buses to shuttle passengers from Woodlands in Singapore to Kempas here.

He added that all the injured were being treated at Hospital Sultanah Aminah.
