A MOTHER of two whose second husband was a doctor from Thailand was subjected to a raid by the Johor Islamic Affairs Department, reported Harian Metro.

The 35-year-old woman told department officials in her Batu Pahat home that she had divorced her first husband.

During the raid, a man in his 40s and believed to be the woman's brother, chastised the doctor for having an affair with his sister.

Another man, believed to be her husband, also came along and was seen leaving shortly after.

Deputy enforcement chief Saiful Ariffin Mohd Sopah said the woman had initially claimed she was not married to the doctor. However, she changed her statement later.

“Investigations showed that she claimed to be single when she was married in Thailand. In fact, she claimed that she had divorced her first husband but he denies this,” said Saiful Ariffin.

He said the department conducted the raid following a tip-off and after checking with the Thai authorities and trying to get a copy of her marriage record.

“The doctor said he was told that she was a divorcee,” he said.

> Singer Yuna has cancelled her performance in this year's Anugerah Juara Lagu due to a scheduling conflict with the recording of her new album in Los Angeles, the daily also reported.

Her manager Nor Zaina Wardah, also known as Wawa, confirmed that the singer, whose real name is Yunalis Zarai, would not be able to attend the event at Stadium Putra in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

Yuna's song Terukir Di Bintang, which is one of the entries in the competition, would be performed by another singer, Wawa said. However, that singer had not been picked yet.

Wawa also denied that Yuna, 25, had cancelled her appearance at the event due to frustrations with the local music industry.

“Such rumours are completely untrue. Yuna needs to follow the recording schedule as the recording company is funding the production costs,” said Wawa.
