13 items placed under CNY price control scheme

PETALING JAYA: Thirteen items have been placed under the Price Control Scheme for Chinese New Year.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the price control would be enforced from Feb 6 to 17.

The items are live chicken, standard chicken, super chicken, chicken eggs, round cabbage, garlic, pomfret, large banana prawn, live pig (at farm level), pork belly, and pork and lard.

The ceiling price of live chicken is fixed RM5.90 per kg, standard chicken (RM7 per kg), super chicken (RM7.80 per kg), grade A chicken egg (36 sen each), Grade B chicken egg (35 sen each) and Grade C chicken egg (34 sen each).

The price of cabbage (from Indonesia and China, excluding Beijing cabbage) is fixed at RM3.30 per kg, garlic from China (RM7 per kg), white pomfret (for weight ranges 200g to 400g, RM38 per kg), large banana prawn (RM35 per kg), pork belly (RM22 per kg), and pork and lard (RM16 per kg). The price mentioned above is within Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
