Construction halted at Putra Heights landslide site

PETALING JAYA: Construction at the Kingsley Hill housing project at Putra Heights has been halted temporarily following a landslide at the site that caused several vehicles to be submerged in mud.

Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) president Datuk Asmawi Kasbi said he has also ordered the developer, B&G Capital Resources Bhd, to produce a report on the incident.

"We have also asked them to come up with an action plan on mitigation and repair works to rectify the problems at the site.

"The developer will also have to pay for the vehicle damage caused by the mud slide," he told reporters at the scene of the incident at Persiaran Putra Perdana Friday.

Asmawi said hill slope developments were safe but the correct construction methods needed to be applied.

"MPSJ has appointed the Public Works Institute as an independent body to check the works and determine the cause of the landslide," he said.

On Thursday, a landslide hit at the construction site, causing mud to flood the road and submerge five cars and a van. No one was injured.

Asmawi said the soil from the landslide fell into a retention pond below the slope, causing mud to spill over to the road.

He said while works were stopped for now, the Kingsley Hill project, which began in 2011, will not be cancelled.

"The project complied with the technical guidelines and that is why MPSJ approved it," Asmawi said, adding that Kingsley Hill was to consist of bungalows and semi-detached houses.

However, he said B&G Capital Resources was responsible for the incident because the infrastructure had yet to be handed over to MPSJ.
