IPOH: A policeman pleaded not guilty to three charges of soliciting and accepting bribes to settle a molest case.

Md Hamdari Wakidi, 53, who has been in the service for 37 years, had allegedly demanded RM3,000 from one Zulkefli Mohamad in order to close a molest case brought against the latter who had been charged in a magistrate’s court.

The offence was allegedly committed between Sept 26 and 29, 2011.

He was also said to have accepted RM1,500 from Zulkefli on Nov 18, 2011 at the five-foot way of Restoran Tasneem Corner in Fair Park.

For the third charge, he was accused of taking another RM1,500 from Zulkefli on May 18 last year inside the same restaurant.

Md Hamdari was a sergeant attached to the Ipoh district police headquarters criminal investigations department.

MACC deputy public prosecutor M. Kathan requested bail to be set at RM10,000, while counsel Mohd Shahrullah Khan Nawab Zadah Khan sought for RM4,000, stating that his client could only afford that amount.

Sessions Court’s Judge Julie Lack Abdullah fixed Feb 18 for re-mention of the case and set bail at RM4,000 with one surety.
