Kelantan urged to set up commission of inquiry on land lease issue

TANAH MERAH: The Kelantan government has been urged to set up a commission of inquiry on the Gua Musang land lease issue so that the people know the real situation.

Kelantan Umno liaison chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the people wanted the Kelantan government to explain the lease of 4,000 hectares land to a company linked to two Perak DAP leaders.

"The people want to know if approval of the land lease was because of DAP's influence over the Kelantan government and DAP's close tie with PAS," he told reporters after visiting traders at Tanah Merah Central Market here on Saturday.

"The people want to know whether the land lease was made according to normal business procedures or extraordinary procedures and whether the Kelantan government policy is to give priority to outsiders.

"The people of Kelantan are still hungry for land. Is it the Kelantan government's policy not to award land to its own people but award to their cronies including the DAP."

Mustapa said the Kelantan government should not be afraid to explain the issue transparently if PAS was a truly Islamic party as claimed. - Bernama
