ROS urged to probe DAP's election glitch

BAGAN DATOH: Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to investigate the issue related to the DAP central executive committee election last month.

"And if they're found to be not transparent, ROS can issue a statement about it's investigation. It's up to the ROS to take further action after that" said Ahmad Zahid, who is Defence Minister, after distributing aid to 876 fishermen here.

The Star recently reported that DAP admitted an error in the counting of votes during its CEC election in December last year, and the amended results led to Zairil Khir Johari, who was initially in 39th position rising to the 20th.

Ahmad Zahid claimed that the DAP's excuse of an error in the counting of votes was to enable them to place Zairil as the Malay representative in the CEC.

He further claimed, "So they planned a strategy that there was a mistake, three weeks after (the election). If it was done a day or two later it would have been reasonable." - Bernama
