Prove transparency, competency and hold fresh elections, DAP told
GEORGE TOWN: Barisan Nasional is urging the DAP to hold a fresh election for its central executive committee to prove that the party is really practising competency, accountability and transparency (CAT) in its administration.
State Barisan psywar chief Datuk Dr J. Loga Bala Mohan (pix) said in this regard all the elected CEC members should resign.
"They should be responsible for the blunder (in calculating the votes) that occurred.
"All the 20 CEC members should resign from the committee and hold a fresh election to regain public confidence.
"That's all they need to do and nothing else. Prove that they truly practise CAT that they have been harping about," Loga Bala told reporters.
He was commenting on the technical error in the vote tabulation which resulted in a big controversy with various quarters believing that the correction was made to enable a Malay to be elected to the CEC to placate the Malay community.
The controversy arose when DAP rectified the error 19 days after the election results were announced on Dec 15 with no Malay elected to the CEC.
Penang Wanita MCA chief Tan Cheng Liang said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, as the DAP secretary-general, should be responsible for the controversy and not put the blame on someone else and asking that person to resign.
"What has happened in DAP is laughable," she said. - Bernama.
