Man with a drive to steal posh cars does it again

KUALA LUMPUR: The man who had driven away a Porsche Panamera from a showroom here last year is said to have done it again.
This time, together with an accomplice, he drove away a Volkswagen Golf GTI from a showroom in Salak Selatan here.
Sources revealed that the incident occurred on Saturday at about 7.30am when the 31-year-old suspect and a yet-to-be identified accomplice approached a security guard at the showroom claiming to be runners who wished to bring one of the cars for a vehicle inspection at Puspakom.
“However, the guard did not believe them and told them to leave,” the source revealed, adding that the duo then lingered around the showroom area.
“The thieves managed to find the area where the keys to the cars are kept before getting into a Volkswagen Golf GTI (worth RM210,000) and driving off with it.”
It is believed the theft was discovered by a worker when the showroom opened for business several hours later. A police report has been lodged.
The car has yet to be recovered and the suspects are still at large.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah confirmed the incident.
After reviewing CCTV footage from the showroom, police are certain that one of the suspects is none other than Mohd Azri Kassim, 31, who had stolen a Porsche Panamera worth RM870,000 from a showroom in Dang Wangi last Oct 11.
In that incident, Azri had entered the premises at 9am on the pretext of meeting a friend who was allegedly working there.
When left unattended by the three employees, he walked up to the first floor, ransacked an office and took an envelope containing the keys to a Porsche Panamera.
The showroom personnel only realised that a car was being stolen when the security guard raised the alarm after noticing it being driven away without a number plate.
Azri was arrested a day later at a house at Kampung Pendamar, Pandamaran, in Klang. The Porsche was found parked by the side of the road near Seri Kembangan on Oct 23 with its keys on a tyre.
It is believed the car was left to be retrieved by a car smuggling syndicate.
Azri pleaded not guilty when he was charged in court on Oct 25.
