Selangor police to handcuff suspects at the back

By STEVEN DANIEL

PETALING JAYA: Selangor police have issued orders that all detainees in transit be handcuffed at the back and the shackles be inspected by another officer.

This follows recent cases of detainees escaping police custody, the latest being the escape of a suspect from the court premises in Klang two weeks ago.

The suspect has been re-arrested and four people charged in connection with the case, including the corporal who was escorting the suspect.

State CID chief SAC Mohd Adnan Abdullah said all district police chiefs have been told of the new standard operating procedure in handling detainees in transit.
