KUALA LUMPUR: The spirit of 1Malaysia was evident as thousands of people from all walks of life thronged MCA's Chinese New Year open house on Sunday.
The celebration hosted by the party took a unique twist this year as it is held away from MCA headquarters where the event is usually held.
This time, it is held at the grounds of Flat Sri Johor in Bandar Tun Razak in Cheras.
At hand to welcome the guests were MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, vice president Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen, secretary-general Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha and other party leaders.
Former prime ministers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and other Barisan Nasional leaders also took time off to celebrate and usher in the year of the snake with their MCA counterparts.
