GEORGE TOWN: South Korean sensation K-pop singer Psy is expected to arrive in Penang Monday, several hours before his scheduled performance at the state Barisan Nasional Chinese New Year Open House here.

Psy, or Park Jae-sang, whose Gangnam Style hit took the world by storm, is slotted to perform in front of some 80,000 people at 11.45am Monday at the open house at the Han Chiang High School field.

Organising chairman Oh Tong Keong, who is state Barisan Youth chief, said he was not sure of Psy's time of arrival but that the singer had requested for security personnel to escort him to the performance.

Psy had been on a two-day visit (from Feb 8 to Feb 10) to Salvador in Brazil for the world's biggest street party.

At around 10am (Malaysian time) Sunday, Psy tweeted that he was leaving Brazil, without giving any hint of his next destination.

As for Asian Wave 2012 champion Shila Amzah, who is supposed to perform at the open house, organisers will hold a discussion Sunday to confirm her appearance.

It was reported in a Malay daily Sunday that Shila, 23, was found by her father, 80s era singer and television personality N.D. Lala, in Kemaman, Terengganu Saturday night after he reported her missing since seven days ago.

She had tweeted several days ago that she was at a place, not known to her parents, to ease her mind, supposedly after actor Sharnaaz Ahmad had decided not to marry her.

Since then, her fans had flooded her Twitter page with words of comfort and encouragement.

It was also reported that N.D. Lala opposed the marriage.

When asked if Shila would still be performing at the state open house tomorrow, Oh said he would discuss it with Penang Barisan chairman Teng Chang Yeow and deliver a decision on Sunday.
