500 people pay last respects to journalist Claudia Theophilus
SEREMBAN: About 500 people paid their last respects to Al-Jazeera news portal editor Claudia Theophilus at Visitation Church in Jalan Yam Tuan, here, on Tuesday.
In a brief speech at the ceremony, Dora Theophilus, 36, said her sister Claudia was a responsible person and took good care of the family's welfare.
"She was the pillar and hope for the family and was concerned for the health of our parents.
"As a journalist, she was very hardworking and focused on community issues. She left a great legacy to anyone who knew her," she said.
After the ceremony at Visitation Church, Claudia's body was then taken to the crematorium in Jalan Tun Dr Ismail for cremation.
Claudia, 42, who worked with Al-Jazeera based in Doha, Qatar, died on Feb 2 in a shooting mishap while on holiday to visit a Lebanese friend in Bakleen, Lebanon.
She had also served The Sun newspaper and Malaysiakini news portal. - Bernama
