Thieves make tons of money breaking into homes of celebrants


KUCHING: A furious house owner lost many valuble things in a breakin that occurred while he was having Chinese New year dinner at his parents’ house which was just nearby.

In report lodged by his father, Kong, 54, from taman Satria Jaya BDC, at Simpang Tiga police station, the police were told that

He told police that around 11.50pm the son asked to leave to check on the house which was about 10 minutes leisurely walk.

At midnight, the son called to say the house had been broken into and that everything inside was in amess.

Lost were five laptops, eight handphones, three wristwatches, RM4,000, about $500 in Singapore currency, a digital camera and some personal documents.

In a separate case, a house was broken into while their owners were out visiting.

The complainant, Tony Voon, 24, from Kampung Beratok, told police that the breakin occurred when he and his family were visiting his in-laws in Serian.

Voon lost RM12,000 and an electronic dictionary.

In another unrelated incident, a handphone shop operator lost more than RM28,000 worth of items in a break-in at his outlet near Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg on the first day of Chinese New Year.

The operator known only as Jong, 20, from Kota Samarahan, told police he only discovered the incident at 10.30am Sunday.

Jong lost devices namely, 35 broadband (RM7,000), 20 WIFI broadband (RM7,600) , 15 open SIM broadband (RM2,250), 679 screen protector (RM1,000), 25 Note 2 (RM3,250), batteries and 150 flipbags and pouches (RM2,250).

He lodged a report at the Sekama police station.
