Armed robbers make off with RM1.2mil after hijacking security van
KLANG: Three armed robbers hijacked a security van and made off with RM1.2mil in collection money Wednesday evening.
During the 6.15pm incident in Kapar, four guards in a security van had stopped at a gaming outlet for the day's collection.
North Klang police chief Asst Comm Shukor Sulong said the three suspects, equipped with guns, appeared and chased the guards away, before driving off with the van.
"After about 10 minutes, the suspects stopped the van and escaped with the cash stashed in four begs.
"They also took a pump gun from the van," he said, adding that the guards, who found the vehicle later, drove it to the South Klang police headquarters to report the incident.
From initial investigation, ACP Shukor said the guards had also collected money from several banks and supermarkets in the area before stopping at the gaming outlet.
He added that police were currently recording statements from the guards to help investigations.
