KUALA LUMPUR: A trader was charged in a Sessions Court here on Thursday in connection to a spate of gang robberies targeting women.

Suhaidi Noor Azlan, 25, claimed trial to three counts of gang robbery between Jan 18 and Jan 21.

In the first case, he was charged together with dispatcher Wan Mohammad Syafiq Wan Ismail, 23, for robbing account assistant Yeap Yee Fong, 26, at Kuchai Entrepreneur Park, on Jalan Kuchai Lama at 8.20am on Jan 18.

Suhaidi was also accused of causing harm during a gang robbery of cashier Lee Yoke Lan, 36, at a parking area along Jalan 5/125 in Salak Selatan Baru, Cheras at 8.30am on Jan 21.

Suhaidi was slapped with a third charge of using a parang during the gang robbery of accountant June Lee Sze Yin, 29, at Jalan Rukun 8, Happy Garden, here at 8.30am on Jan 18.

In each of the charges, the women were said to have been robbed of their handbags, which contained valuables, documents, wallets and handphones.

DPP Amira Sariaty Zaihal asked bail be set at RM20,000 for each charge.

Sessions Court judge Datuk Rozana Ali Yusoff set bail at RM10,000 with one surety for each charge and fixed March 14 for next mention for the accused to engage lawyers.

DPP Amira later told reporters that the cases would be heard separately as it involved different victims in separate districts.
