KUALA LUMPUR: A special court for the construction industry will be set up this year said Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) chief executive Datuk Seri Ir Dr Judin Abd Karim on Thursday

He said the court will speed up cases related to the industry as it will be presided by judges who were expert in the field.

A similar special court in United Kingdom proved that such a system was more effective, he added.

"We will use the existing court houses, so the special court will not incur any cost," he said at a press conference after signing the Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP), witnessed by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abu Kassim Mohamed here.

Judin said, based on records, there were more than 600 construction-related cases since 2006 to date. - Bernama
