SHAH ALAM: Selangor police believe they have solved a number of rob and rape cases in the Klang Valley since last year, with the arrest of eight suspects after a series of raids in Kota Damansara near here, early this week.

Selangor CID Chief SAC Mohd Adnan Abdullah said three of the suspects, aged between 23 and 27, were detained at a karaoke centre in Kota Damansara on Monday at about 11.45pm.

"Upon inspecting the Toyota Wish car driven by the trio, we found various weapons and instruments used in robberies like parang, knife, samurai sword, baseball bats, facemask, cap and master key sets," he told reporters here on Friday adding that the Toyota Wish had been reported stolen in Kampung Melayu Subang, early this year.

Police raided the karaoke outlet following a robbery at a hotel in Sungai Buloh at about 1.40pm on Feb 9, by four masked men who were wearing caps and armed with weapons.

In a follow up operation three more suspects, aged between 25 and 27, were detained at a shop in Kota Damansara on Tuesday at about 12.30am.

Mohd Adnan another raid was carried out at a house in Kampung Melayu Tambahan in Subang and Kota Damansara and two suspects arrested on Wednesday and Thursday.

One of the suspects was a bank officer while some had previous records for criminal activities like robbery, sexual offences and drugs.

"We believe three of them were also involved in a rape cum robbery in Gombak recently.

“During the incident, three suspects had dragged a woman out of her car and raped her before robbing her of RM1,200," he said.

The modus operandi of the group was to pounce on victims who are alone, wearing facemasks and caps. - Bernama
