PM denies stopping second post-mortem on Sugumar

IPOH: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has brushed aside speculation that he pressured the Thai Government to stop Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand from performing a second post-mortem on security guard C. Sugumar.

“There is no such thing. Banyak cerita dongeng (These are all myths),” he said after launching the Urban Transformation Centre here yesterday.

It was reported that Dr Pornthip had declined to perform the second post-mortem on Sugumar and that her decision was conveyed to Sugumar's family via e-mail.

The family had earlier stated that Dr Pornthip was willing to conduct the post-mortem.

Sugumar died after allegedly being beaten up by police and the public after he ran amok in Taman Sri Nanding, Hulu Langat, on Jan 23.

An initial post-mortem performed on Sugumar showed he died of a heart attack.

Najib had requested for the post-mortem report to be submitted to the Cabinet.
