Chua: If Pakatan wins, PM will be from PAS
By WONG PEK MEI
KAJANG: If the opposition wins the next general election, the Prime Minister will be from PAS and not Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.
He said if the opposition is able to obtain Pahang, Terengganu, Johor, Perak, Kedah, Kelantan and Perlis in the next election, the Mentri Besars will be from PAS while Penang and Selangor will be led by DAP and PKR respectively.
“DAP will never be the one to call the shots. They merely play the role of an assistant.
“In the country, there are 222 parliamentary seats and DAP can only win a maximum of 48 seats so they cannot be taking the lead.
“Although it projects itself as a party which is able to change our fate, they do not play a dominant role at a central level like PAS,” he said in his speech during the Chinese New Year Open House by Hulu Langat MCA and Barisan Nasional here Friday night.
He pointed out that in 2008, DAP won most seats in Perak but the Mentri Besar was from PAS.
“Although DAP wants to make Johor its first front line state, DAP will only contest for 15 seats while PAS will contest 33 seats. So who will have the chance of becoming the big boss?” he said.
Dr Chua said the Chinese community should not be “too excited” about Anwar becoming Prime Minister.
“The Chinese community sometimes forget who will become the Prime Minister. But it is crucial as the Prime Minister decides everything,” he said.
He said Anwar was “smart” for projecting himself as a Malay hero with a strong Islamic foundation while he was in Umno.
“Because of that, Anwar who was in Umno for 11 years and could become the Deputy Prime Minister while Najib had to wait for 28 years,” he said.
Dr Chua urged the people to not be taken in by the Opposition's lies.
“If we reject PAS, we should also reject the other component parties,” he said, adding one vote for DAP would be a vote for the other component parties.
