BN service centre 'attacked' with red paint

By ALLISON LAI

MALACCA: The Barisan Nasional service centre at Taman Kota Laksamana became the target of vandalism with a red paint attack.

State PPP chairman Datuk Chiw Tiang Chai said two plastic bags filled with red paint were thrown at the premises, a single storey corner unit late Friday night.

“Several neighbours nearby discovered what had happened at about 7am Saturday and alerted us,'' he said when met at the scene.

Chiw said that the paint was splashed onto the service centre's signage above the roof and part of the front porch.

'This is the first time it has happened,'' he said, adding that there were no signs of break in or any other damage.

The premises, which is one of the 7,531 Barisan district polling centres nationwide, was opened in June last year.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the paint could be an act of jealousy by the opposition as local Barisan leaders have been doing well in engaging community members.

"Actions like these are totally undemocratic and uncalled for," he said when met here, adding he would leave it to the police to investigate.
