Muhyiddin: PAS a flop in Kedah, BN better choice

AlOR SETAR: Kedahans should give back the mandate to the Barisan Nasional (BN) as PAS has failed to administer the state well, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said the fact that Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak was always passing the buck on the running of the state to the federal government showed that PAS had no capability to govern the state.

"This is not about choosing the BN. Only the BN has shown since 55 years ago that it can look after the welfare of the people, not other parties," he said when launching the "Kolaborasi 2013" initiative for the Kuala Kedah parliamentary constituency.

Muhyiddin, who is Barisan deputy chairman, is on a one-day visit to Kedah.

Muhyiddin said the policies of the Kedah government led by PAS were not development-friendly resulting in investors shying away and the state going backwards and the people without jobs.

On the other hand, he said the Barisan government's policies gave consideration to each layer of society so that they were not left out of the mainstream development.

"Kedah's backwardness is of no help to the federal government.

"The problems of the people, farmers, fishermen and others, the Mentri Besar must get down to the ground and help them.

"Ask the (Kedah) MB whether he is doing this...he is not capable of doing so," he said to loud applause from the crowd.

He said in Selangor and Kelantan there were many old and new problems that the opposition-led governments were unable to resolve.

As such, he said the people should give a resounding mandate to Barisan in the upcoming general election.

Muhyiddin also said in Kedah alone, 508,000 households were enjoying the 1Malaysia People's Aid 2.0 (BR1M 2.0) of RM500 (per household) made possible by the federal government.

"The federal government is giving this aid without ever asking which political party they support. There is no other government in the world that is as kind as the BN government," he said. - Bernama
