Car-themed flash mob hits Jalan BB

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of flash mob participants not only surprised shoppers in Jalan Bukit Bintang with their dance performances but they were joined by a fleet of over 30 cars, which were parked in front of a shopping complex.

They were part of the 1Malaysia for Youth (1M4U) volunteers who showcased a car-themed flash mob yesterday.

Hundreds of participants gathered in front of the Pavilion shopping complex at 10am, followed by a fleet of about 30 Proton Gen-2 cars in vibrant colours.

The cars, which were led by a Perodua Myvi decked out in black-and-white 1M4U colours, then moved to the Lot 10 shopping centre 15 minutes later.

Escorted by Kuala Lumpur City Hall and police cars, some drivers played the 1M4U theme song from their cars.

A separate group of young people then gathered in front of Lot 10 and performed a series of dance routines.

Other volunteers collected donations for Palestine refugees in Gaza from passers-by and tourists.

The participants then dispersed and the Proton drivers sped away.

1M4U events senior executive Hairul Ekzan said that the programme was initiated to create awareness of the movement.

“The flash mob was created in conjunction with 1M4U's Year of Volunteerism'. Around 250 people volunteered for the event,” he added.
