Kelantan people are ready for change, says Najib
KUALA LUMPUR: The people of Kelantan are prepared for change and are ready to vote for Barisan Nasional to have a brighter future, said the Prime Minister.
During a massive gathering at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium here, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that the people of Kelantan had endured false promises and lies under the present state government.
Citing the land scandal issue in which the PAS-led Kelantan government had reportedly awarded a plot of state land to DAP after the 2008 general election, Najib said Barisan was prepared to help fight for the people's rights.
“The huge crowd of about 15,000 people of Kelantan origin gathered here today is a clear signal that they want a change.
“If Barisan Nasional is given the mandate during the elections, we will ensure that every inch of the land is returned to the people,” he said during his speech yesterday.
He said about 500,000 people of Kelantan origin had moved out of the state to the city in search of a better future due to the lack of opportunities in the state.
“If we are given the chance, we will make big changes in Kelantan.
“We will ensure that there are job opportunities in Kelantan, so that the people will not have to leave the state in search of a better future,” he said.
Also present at the Himpunan Perdana Anok-Anok Kelate Di Perantauan 2013 event were his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed and Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussin.
Earlier, Mustapa said the support given by the Kelantanese people showed they wanted to see change and development in the state under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
One lucky participant at the gathering, Mohd Nazri Mohamad, 31, from Tanah Merah, walked away with a brand new Proton Saga FLX during a lucky draw.
“I am overjoyed as this is my first car.
“I could not afford a car all this while,” said Mohd Nazri, who runs a car wash business here.
