BN has new plans to counter allegations

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional has formulated new plans to counter the allegations made by the Opposition against the ruling party, said coalition secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
“We cannot reveal our plans but we are confident that it will be able to refute most of the lies that were made against us. Most importantly, we will not be influenced by the Opposition's style,” he said at a press conference after launching the Umno Veteran's Club sticker “My Family-BN Voters” at Putra World Trade Centre yesterday.
According to the Election Commission, some 13.3 million will vote in the general election, with about 2.4 million newly registered voters nationwide.
Tengku Adnan, also the Putrajaya MP, admitted that Barisan still faced many challenges in cyberspace in properly explaining government policies as well as addressing questions raised by the Opposition.
“If we do not do something about it, people will start believing the lies about Barisan on the Internet. If it is necessary, we will take legal action against them,” he said.
He also noted that Barisan was still finalising its elections manifesto.
When asked about Barisan's candidate list for the elections, Tengku Adnan said that the coalition would only field winnable and popular candidates who represented the rakyat.
On the event, he said the Umno Veteran's Club would be distributing about a million “My Family-BN Voters” stickers nationwide as part of its effort and psy-war strategy in the elections against Pakatan Rakyat.
“We hope our supporters will put up the stickers at their houses.”
